Destination Copenhagen: Castle of Rosenborg

In addition to the Amalienborg palace complex, in the greenest part of the city lies the fairytale Castle of Rosenborg, with its red sandstone blocks, the copper roofs and tall green towers with spires that touch the sky. Built by King Christian IV as a summer residence, ended up being the one in which he lived and died (as did the rest of his successors).

The Round Tower (Rundetaarn) is one of the most famous buildings in Denmark. Located in the center of the city, was built between 1637 and 1642 at the behest of King Christian IV and represented the first section of the Trinity complex that would include the Students’ Church, the Astronomical Observatory and the University Library.
