Mirror Lake: the perfect name for a wonderful place

The Lac Miroir on the French Alps reflects the surrounding landscape melding in its crystalline waters.

Located at 2,214 meters above sea level, in the Regional Natural Park of Queyras, in France on the border with Italy, the Lac Miroir ('mirror lake') reflects the surrounding landscape that blends with its waters, confusing the gaze of who observes it: he no longer understands where the lake is and where the mountains are.
The starting point for reaching this enchanted place is the village of Ceillac, a French municipality with 314 inhabitants located in the department of the Hautes-Alpes in the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region.

The lake can be reached by taking the Passet path, a path in the middle of the forest, which is about 3 kilometers long and which can be done even by children. You cross the Mélezet stream, a waterfall and a wooden bridge spotting delightful nooks.

Some points have natural steps, others are unpaved. But it's all very simple. Refreshed by the shade of the trees, with the fresh waters of streams and brooks, like the Pisse torrent which appears already at 2,160 meters. This stream feeds the Pisse waterfall, near the starting point of the route, in the commune of Bourg d'Oisans, and it's worth seeing.

Once you arrive at Lake Miroir you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the mountains that are reflected in its clear waters.

Not satisfied, you can also continue the path that climbs up to Lake Saint'Anne. It takes another hour of walking. Otherwise you can rest on the meadows of the Près de Soubeyrand mountain pasture and enjoy the view. Do not be surprised if, during the picnic, you will see the nose of some curious marmot appear. It's part of the experience.
